Do you remember going on Field Trips?
They were the best.
Field Trip is a beautiful blend of outdoor recreation and education inspired by those rare but dreamy days of youth spent out of the classroom.
The goal of Field Trip is to empower all guests to become more active stewards of their public lands by providing an opportunity to learn something new in an engaging outdoor setting.
Join us for a weekend of learning, camping, and your favorite outdoor activities.
Be present, Unplug, and Log Off.
Education
Field Trip is, first and foremost, an educational event. It's a response to the surge in outdoor recreation fueled by social media and lifestyle brands' promotion of public lands. It's a response to increased visitation numbers at state and national parks, coupled with decreased maintenance budgets. It's a response to the heart-wrenching headlines about vandalized indigenous sites, trampled super blooms, and the harsh realities of over-tourism. These examples show no signs of slowing down and, we believe, originate from a lack of education around respecting and responsibly enjoying our natural places and public lands.
Recreation
You impact our public lands, whether you identify as a hiker, biker, runner, walker, or beach chilleur. It's important as ever to come to terms with our shared responsibility and positively act on it. How do you convince a bunch of hikers, bikers, etc., to stop doing what they love long enough to sit down, listen, and learn about the ribbons of dirt they value so highly? You give them access to world-class (Shhh!) ribbons of dirt to play on. Guests will ride/run/walk/hike the very same trails they learn about. What better way to understand the intricacies of our public lands than by playing on them?

To the North
The coastal enclave of Mendocino will be our home for the long weekend. We'll spend our time outside learning and exploring amongst the redwoods and tidepools. Local speakers will lead discussions on the surprisingly complex reality of outdoor recreation in and around the Mendocino area, including Jackson State Forest. Best of all, event proceeds will be donated to local outdoors organizations.
